Housing

Madrid

You live with hosts in Madrid (usually two students to a household, though you may choose to live singly). This experience allows you to assimilate quickly and to immerse into a Spanish lifestyle, taking breakfasts and dinners with your Spanish hosts and participating in la sobremesa (discussion around the table), and other Spanish customs.

Your host(s) may vary from traditional families with younger or older children to single professionals. You will receive a housing request form where you can specify your preferences and special needs. Placements are based on extensive experience with each host. During the AZAHAR seminar you will meet with the housing coordinator and have the opportunity to read former student evaluations of hosts, see photos of family members, and consider your options.

Students may request an alternative to host family accommodation in the case of a compelling reason or special circumstance, authorized in advance by the SU Abroad Spain counselor in Syracuse.
