Internship Placements
The best way for international students to experience London life is through taking an internship.
Faculty and professionals at the London Center have developed extensive contacts throughout the city, giving students access to virtually every type of British institution - national and local organizations, and a wide variety of businesses, both local and multinational.
Application Procedure
Fill out an SU Abroad application, including the Internship Request Form. Applications are reviewed according to stated goals, academic record, prior experience, skills, and recommendations.
We recommend you discuss the appropriateness of an internship to your program of study with your advisor before applying. Some schools limit the number of internship credits that can be applied toward a major. SU Newhouse students must obtain written approval from the Newhouse Student Records Office in order to earn any communications internship credit.
Finalizing the Placement
Final decisions about placements are made in London following an on-site interview. While placements cannot be guaranteed, every attempt is made to mach students to organizations appropriate to their skills and abilities.
Review Process
Each intern has a faculty sponsor in the appropriate field of study who provides guidance and sets standards for a report or other academic project undertaken during the internship and who consults with an on-site supervisor responsible for the student's work at the organization. Students are given a grade by the academic sponsor for the internship experience.
