Student Visas: Hong Kong
Hong Kong and China are "One Country, Two Systems" since the handover in 1997. Students who are U.S. citizens will need a student visa to study in Hong Kong. Syracuse University will provide the forms for this visa, and students will submit their application to Syracuse. It is not necessary that students submit their passport at the time of application.
Students who participate in the China Seminar will need a tourist visa to travel in mainland China. This is obtained by submitting a passport and visa application to a consulate of the People's Republic of China. Syracuse University will send detailed instructions in a separate mailing to accepted students.
The student visa application and a sample copy (for your reference) is below. Please mail the completed application, along with a crystal clear copy of your passport identification page, three passport photos, and a $35 visa processing fee (check made payable to Syracuse University) to:
